Acolhida na Colônia was created in Brazil in 1998. It is an association of farmers integrated to the network of Rede Accueil Paysan (acting in France since 1987) that has as it main goal to enrich the countryside lifestyle through the ecological agrotourism. With this proposal comunity based farmers of Santa Catarina open their house to show the visitor their simple lifestyle and ecologic practices through the subsistence and organic agriculture. It is an unique experience and an example in the country and the world of how agricultural practices can be in harmony with economic development in parallel with great care for environmental.
This 4 day program combines close contact with the culture of Southern Brazil countryside and relaxing outdoor activities near the magnificent Serra Geral Catarinense. “Acolhida na Colonia” is a successful local community initiative that brings sustainable tourism to small organic farms of rural Santa Catarina. You can go for walks in the deep valley, enjoy a swim in pristine rivers and waterfalls or learn a few tips on organic farming. You will be sharing for a few days a way of life that has changed very little in the last two centuries. Experiences that will give you a close contact with the local culture, a blend of European traditions and Brazilian warm hospitality.
