About the itinerary

Some places are best understood through what happens around them. In Rio, daily life spills onto beaches and neighbourhood streets. Paraty still carries its history in a town made for walking, while Salvador brings Afro-Brazilian culture firmly into the present. Praia do Forte leaves the final days open, with the coast, conservation and the village close at hand.

Trip Highlights

  • Two UNESCO World Heritage settings in one itinerary: Rio’s cultural landscape is UNESCO-listed, while Paraty’s historic centre forms part of the mixed Paraty and Ilha Grande World Heritage property. For operators, that puts internationally recognised urban, cultural and natural heritage into the same programme without adding another long-haul domestic sector.

  • Afro-Brazilian heritage is part of the programme, not background: Salvador was founded in 1549 as Brazil’s first capital, and its African influence remains particularly visible in religion, music, cuisine and cultural traditions. The itinerary dedicates four nights to the city, including Pelourinho, Olodum House and Senhor do Bonfim, where Catholic and Candomblé traditions meet.

  • Praia do Forte adds a recognised conservation story to the coast: The region combines coral reefs and natural pools with established wildlife conservation. Sea-turtle nesting and hatchling activity is associated with the summer months, while humpback whales migrate along this part of the Bahian coast between July and October, adding clear seasonal selling points for the right departure dates.
