About the itinerary

Listen, watch, try. Our Cultural History programs are perfectly designed to undress travelers’ worldview and make them step into a new place called Brazil. We choose very special and authentic moments in different parts of the country that can take you inside our history, culture, lifestyle, music, food and communities with joy and respect.

Apart from all the history and culture that we’ll come across in Rio de Janeiro, this trip will take you to the beautiful Paraty and through the Historical Towns of Minas Gerais (Ouro Preto, Tiradentes, Mariana, and São João Del Rei).

Our trip ends in Salvador, the first capital of colonial Brazil, well known for its cuisine, music, and architecture. The African influence in many cultural aspects of the city makes it the center of African-Brazilian culture. There it’s possible to feel the energy and happiness from the people singing, dancing, and playing capoeira all around the city.

  • Backgrounds of Carnival – the biggest party: In Rio the Janeiro be prepared to get to know all about “The Greatest Show on Earth”! The origin of the party, the Sambódromo and its cultural center, the Samba’s Roots at Port Area, the neighborhood around that is part of that history. To enrich the experience we will have the opportunity to visit a samba school studio to witness first-hand the preparations for Rio’s carnival behind the scenes.

  • The Historical Cities in Minas Gerais, Cultural Heritage of Humanity: For history lovers, this itinerary is simply a must-see! It’s like traveling back in time and getting to know an important part of Brazil’s history. These small towns are architectural jewels with their sumptuous churches, museums, streets and houses that preserve all the tradition and culture. Some are even considered World Heritage Sites, such as Ouro Preto.

  • Hands-on in Salvador: One of the most fun and cultural experiences in Salvador! Feel the Bahian excitement in your veins. You can choose between learning the “ginga” of Capoeira, taking a percussion class to learn some of the best techniques to play a few instruments that are used in Brazilian music or joining specialized teachers that will show you how to dance the most traditional rhythms of Bahia and Brazil. Are you ready?
